Earlier this week, reports from the Brazilian media revealed Cruzeiro’s interest in Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
It was claimed the Belo Horizonte side already made contact for the player, who’s having a loan spell at Al-Duhail until the end of the season.
As Goal Brasil now share an update on this story, they confirm Cruzeiro’s interest in Coutinho and bring a reason the Aston Villa player could fancy a return to his home country.
It’s said that Coutinho still dreams of returning to the national team. The Brazilian league then becomes an alternative for him, as he could get more visibility for manager Dorival Junior.
Now even though it seems a settled matter that Cruzeiro want to sign the 31-year-old, we’re still to see how much Aston Villa would demand for his transfer.
It must also be checked if the player would accept a big pay cut to move to South America. It’s clear that Brazilian clubs can’t match the salary he has at the Premier League side, so a formula would need to be sorted out to make the transfer possible.
