It appears that Real Unión are about to get their first player from the new partnership in place with Aston Villa, according to Sport in Spain.
The small Spanish side, whose president so happens to be Unai Emery’s brother, have been in the news a lot of late because of their relationship with the Premier League side, which has even infuriated a few along the way.
However, the plan was for Aston Villa to get a better system in place in Spain, while Real Unión could also benefit from the partnership by receiving some players.
Josh Feeney will be the first, as he was at the stadium over the weekend to watch the Spanish club take on Arenteiro, and the centre-back is expected to make the move soon.
The club’s press officer, Martín Tellechea, confirmed his presence in the box, and it’s apparently ‘not the first time he’s come’.
Sport then relay news from journalist Ángel García, for Cazurreando, who explained that Feeney would not be the only player to move, with ‘three more players’ potentially making the switch to Real Unión in the near future.
Feeney has yet to make his first-team appearance for Aston Villa, but was on the bench for the Conference League qualifiers against Hibernian earlier on in the season.
