Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho could be sorting out his exit from the club very soon, according to the latest reports from South America.
Band now reports that the player is flying to Brazil on Saturday, and that trip would ‘accelerate’ the talks with Vasco da Gama.
It’s said the Aston Villa midfielder was ‘never so close’ to a return home, as he seems to be really engaged in that task.
The story claims that Coutinho recently got in touch with his former Vasco teammate Souza to convince him to rejoin the club with him.
The 31-year-old had a loan spell at Al-Duhail this season, but that’s now over, and Aston Villa clearly don’t have any plans for him, so they authorised him to negotiate with other clubs.
The word in Brazil has been that the English club could accept rescinding their contract with Coutinho and let him move for free. That will undoubtedly make things easier for Vasco, although it remains to be seen how big a pay cut the player will accept to make the move.
