Aston Villa have placed a bid to sign Kang-in Lee from Mallorca, according to reports from Spain.
It’s Fichajes who write that Unai Emery’s side have just submitted their ‘first offer’ for the midfielder.
According to the report, Aston Villa have put an amount of €13.5m on the table. Depending on add-ons, that bid could reach ‘at least’ €15m.
The €15m price tag is apparently how much Mallorca are expecting to make with his sale, despite Marca claiming earlier they wanted the full €17m clause. Fichajes claim that Kang-in Lee has a clear idea about leaving the La Liga side, and they want to take advantage of that by cashing in with a big transfer.
The problem for Aston Villa is that Newcastle United are also interested in the player, and according to the report, the Magpies are actually willing to trigger his release clause.
So it’s not yet known whether Mallorca will accept the Villans’ offer, as they could just wait and see if someone will really pay more.
On Monday morning, Marca had already highlighted that the South Korean player is wanted by the likes of Aston Villa, Burnley, Feyenoord and Newcastle.
