Emiliano Martinez has easily been one of the signings of the season.

Understandably not wanting to be a continual understudy to Bernd Leno, Arsenal allowed Martinez to leave and he’s probably had a better season than his old German competitor.

There have been links with Martinez and other clubs, with even claims of Manchester United interest recently, although they’ve seemed weak to say the least, and it would be a big shock if Martinez isn’t at Aston Villa when next season starts.

However, there’s a claim from Turkey of the Birmingham club being interested in Uğurcan Çakır, goalkeeper for Trabzonspor and the Turkish national team. He’s continually been linked with moves elsewhere, and Fotospor say Aston Villa are one of the clubs considering signing him.

According to the report, there’s already been official offers from Borussia Dortmund, PSV and Atalanta, although none of those have been enough. The offers have been at around €20m, with a sell-on of less than 25%.

In the hugely surprising scenario that Aston Villa make a move, they’d have to go higher financially.
