Pierluigi Gollini’s future at Atalanta has been thrown into doubt following new claims the Serie A side will redeem Etrit Berisha from Lazio. Gollini is currently on loan with Atalanta from Aston Villa, but has hardly figured due to the form of Berisha.

TMW have reported it’s looking very likely Atalanta will make Berisha’s move permanent in the summer, despite bringing in Gollini from Aston Villa in the last window.

The 22-year-old was expected to be Atalanta’s number one when Marco Sportiello left for Fiorentina, but it’s the Albanian international who has been installed as the Italian side’s first choice. It’s been reported Atalanta will hold meetings with Lazio over Easter as both parties look to close the deal.

Gollini only signed for Aston Villa in the last summer window, and started the season as Roberto Di Matteo’s number one. However, after Steve Bruce replaced the Italian boss Gollini eventually lost his place in the Aston Villa starting eleven, and was then loaned to Atalanta in January.

Bruce wants to sign Sam Johnstone permanently, and with Gollini on a season and a half long loan at Atalanta, his future remains unclear.
