On Thursday, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery admitted Galatasaray star Nicolò Zaniolo is one of the players on their target list. The Premier League side have shifted their focus to the 24-year-old after Emiliano Buendía suffered a serious injury.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, the Villans had a ‘long conference call’ on Thursday evening over a deal for the winger. He doesn’t make it clear whether the call was between the two clubs or between Aston Villa and the player’s entourage.

The Italy international reportedly has a €35m release clause and Pedullà says Aston Villa are trying to sign him without activating the clause.

Fanatik journalist Yakup Çınar also took to Twitter to state officials from the English club have made a trip to Istanbul to sign the former AS Roma man.

He adds Aston Villa, who have already made an offer, are ‘enthusiastic’ about this transfer. The details of their offer aren’t mentioned but Çınar says it was rejected by Galatasaray.

Çınar further states Zaniolo has recently bought a house in Istanbul. Therefore, it is still possible for him to continue at Galatasaray if there’s no ‘offer he wants’.
