Aston Villa sents scouts to the Portuguese league match between Benfica and Vitória de Guimarães this weekend.

Just like expected, what the officials saw was the Eagles having a good kick off in the league. The Lisbon side won the match 3-2, scoring three goals in the first half, and then relaxing a little in the second part.

Although newspapers like Record and O Jogo both report the presence from Aston Villa at the match, they don’t point out if the emissaries were watching any specific player.

Now if there was someone to be impressed by, that was definitely Pizzi. Scoring three goals in three shots in 38 minutes isn’t any bad for a midfielder, and that’s why there’s no doubt about who was the man of the match.

Other Benfica players who stood out were Salvio and Gedson, who kept creating danger to Vitória during the entire game. For the away side, it was the former Porto midfielder André André who gave them a chance of a reaction, with a goal and an assist.

Scouts from Premier League clubs like Everton, Newcastle Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham were also present at the Estádio da Luz, as usual.

But the transfer mission from Aston Villa looks much more interesting, given their window for loans remains open.

Scouting is often the building blocks of a transfer, but sometimes it can be the final confirmation instead.
