Aston Villa official ‘The Brain’ could follow Johan Lange to Tottenham – Villans’ approval needed for move

Aston Villa head of football research Frederik Leth could follow Johan Lange to Tottenham Hotspur, according to Tipsbladet.

Earlier this month, Spurs announced Lange will be their new technical director with effect from November 1st. He will arrive at Tottenham after spending over three years at Aston Villa.

The 43-year-old joined the Villans as their sporting director in 2020 and was promoted to their global sports director back in July. Lange brought Leth to Villa Park a few months after his arrival in England.

Tipsbladet state there is a possibility for the Aston Villa official to follow the Dane to the north London club, and they partly believe this could be the case because the pair had previously worked together at FC Copenhagen.

As it stands, the outlet insists that ‘nothing is certain’ because Tottenham have to first find a ‘suitable role’ for Leth. In addition to this, Aston Villa’s approval will be needed for the move to take shape.

Tottenham are interested in Lange’s work on buying and developing young talents, and his focus on data.

Tipsbladet say Leth has also been involved in this process with his compatriot, from their time at Copenhagen, and that saw the former being nicknamed ‘The Brain’.
