Unai Emery ‘wants to have’ Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio at Aston Villa next season, according to Marca.
The 27-year-old has a month left on his deal and has refused to accept the renewal offers made by the La Liga side so far.
Having helped Aston Villa qualify for the UEFA Conference League, the manager will now have a say in the club’s business in the summer. He’s showing keen interest in having the winger at his disposal at Villa Park.
Emery has ‘personally taken charge’ to convince the Spain international to join the Villans. The latter already has a foot and half outside of Real Madrid as he’s not pleased with the lack of prominence he had under Carlo Ancelotti in the recently concluded season.
It’s stated Emery made his compatriot understand that he’ll have his confidence and have an important role at Aston Villa.
In fact, the Villans have offered an ‘important project’ to the player. He’ll have to settle for the UEFA Conference League if he decides to join the Premier League club.
Apart from Aston Villa, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan are also interested in taking Asensio for free in the summer. His agent, Jorge Mendes, maintains a good relationship with both PSG and the Serie A side.
Marca state ‘Emery goes all out’ for Asensio, who hasn’t yet made a final decision on his future.
