Aston Villa and Newcastle United are part of the race for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram.
That’s according to BILD, who say it is ‘only a question of price’ when it comes to the Frenchman leaving the club in January.
Thuram is out of contract with the German side next summer and they are looking to sell in January to avoid losing him on a free.
The winter window is their last opportunity to get a figure for a key player, with ‘blatant management errors’ in the past meaning they are being forced to sell.
Aston Villa and Newcastle have both been linked with a move, with both expected to be busy strengthening their squads for Unai Emery and Eddie Howe respectively.
They have money to spend but it is Thuram’s low price of €10m that is the attractive point given his performances this season and in the past.
Indeed it is a figure that has clubs lining up to take him away as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Atlético Madrid and Sevilla are also in the race.
That means Aston Villa and Newcastle are facing extreme competition for his signature, but they are firmly in the race for it nonetheless.
