The saga of Milot Rashica has taken another twist, with the forward now looking very unlikely to secure a January move to Aston Villa.

That’s because he’s picked up a tendon injury in his left thigh, according to information from newspaper Kicker today.

They report that Rashica is facing another ‘forced break’ having had to end training ‘prematurely’ on Wednesday.

He’s since undergone an MRI scan to assess the damage, and that revealed the tendon injury, ruling him out until the end of January according to ‘official club information.’

That would likely rule out a move to Aston Villa in January, something which had been claimed in recent weeks.

Rashica was linked with Villa throughout the summer transfer window but eventually didn’t make the move, or any for that matter.

It was believed Villa’s interest had died down, but DeichStube reported last month that Aston Villa planned to ‘look very carefully’ at the 24-year-old once again.

It was believed he was ‘one of the candidates’ they were looking at to strengthen their forward options and Werder Bremen were more than open to getting a deal done.

That’s now unlikely to happen given his current injury diagnosis, unless Villa are willing to risk signing an injured player and going from there.

Alternatively, there is a chance this is an ‘injury’ and nowhere near as serious as it’s being made out, with Rashica keen to stay fit for January and Werder happy to play along to secure a much-needed sale.

That’s us being cynical, of course, but if we happen to see reports that Rashica is expected back sooner than expected in the next month, we’re claiming a victory.
