Aston Villa have an agreement with Emiliano Martínez that he can leave if an ‘elite’ Champions League club make an offer for him in the coming months.
That’s according to the Argentinian edition of AS, who say Bayern Munich are ‘following him closely’ after his performances at the World Cup.
Martínez was one of the stars of the show in Argentina’s success in Qatar, with a series of impressive performances, including in the final, where he shone in the shootout also.
Those displays have made him ‘one of the goalkeepers of the moment’ and according to AS, Bayern Munich are following him closely.
Getting Martínez out of Villa Park is not an easy task given he extended his contract last January, with Aston Villa getting him signed to a new five-year deal after his performances at the Copa America.
However, according to AS, the Villans have ‘agreed with the player’ to ‘consider an offer’ if one should arrive from an ‘elite’ Champions League team.
Bayern Munich certainly fall into that category, but Villa will continue to fight to keep him as Unai Emery considers the Argentine as an ‘indispensable’ part of his project at the club.
Qatar is seen as a ‘turning point’ for the player, though, putting him on the world stage and in Bayern’s sights and they could now try to take him away from Aston Villa.
