One a list of people who will be glad to see the back of 2022, we’re sure Aston Villa striker Wesley Moraes would be at the top of it.
The Brazilian is currently on loan with Levante in Spain, having joined them in the summer when it was made clear the was not a part of the plans at Villa Park.
The hope was that he could get his career back on track in La Liga2 after a miserable loan spell at Brazilian side Internacional in the second half of last season.
Sadly, that has not been the case for the 26-year-old, who has struggled to establish himself at Levante since day one.
We’ve covered several reports from Spain about his struggles since his arrival, with the last in November explaining he was currently an ‘apathetic’ version of himself and had even received a dressing down from his manager.
They explain that the striker is going to say goodbye to 2022 without having been able to ‘break the bad streak in front of goal’.
He arrived in the summer from Aston Villa with the aim of becoming the reference point in Levante’s attack but so far, he ‘has not achieved it’.
He’s managed 815 minutes in the league and 148 in the Copa del Rey without scoring and with ‘hardly any chances’ in the 19 games he has player in.
Wednesday saw him again failing to find the back of the net as Levante took on FC Andorra in the Copa del Rey, meaning he will end this year as miserable as he started it and looking increasingly unlikely to ever be the player that made Aston Villa pay €25m in 2019.
