Over the past several weeks, there’s been several claims of Aston Villa‘s interest in Galatasaray’s Gabriel Sara.
Last month, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey of Aston Villa sending a scout to watch him in action. The same source stated he won’t leave for less than €30m.
On May 1st, we relayed news of the Premier League side initiating contact over a potential summer move.
Aston Villa face a battle as other clubs including Newcastle United and Everton are also in the mix.
Aston Villa make concrete advances
Unai Emery’s side have decided to step up their efforts to try and bring Gabriel Sara to Villa Park.
That’s according to Turkish journalist Süleyman Rodop, who covered the latest on Aston Villa for Ajans1905, Haber Sarı Kırmızı have relayed his comments.
He claims the Europa League finalists have made an offer to sign the midfielder.
The journalist stated is one of the areas the Istanbul club are looking to strengthen, because the 26-year-old is set to leave.
“Galatasaray are planning to sign a number 10, a number 6-8, and a high-profile central defender. Negotiations are ongoing with 3-4 players for each position,” he said.
“Aston Villa’s offer for Gabriel Sara is quite serious. At the end of this process, Gabriel Sara is expected to most likely be heading to England.”
There’s no mention of the details of the offer and his comments don’t specify whether the English club made an offer to the player, his club or both. This should be clarified in the next few days.
Contract, value and agent info
Gabriel Sara spent two years at Norwich City and left them for Galatasaray in August 2024.
He signed a contract until 2029 and is valued at €22m by Transfermarkt. Agent Carlos Leite manages the Brazilian, who missed out on Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the World Cup.
