Aston Villa are considering bringing Marcus Rashford back to Villa Park in the summer.

The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United.

Unai Emery’s side wanted to retain him, but he snubbed them to join Barcelona on loan in July 2025.

Barca sporting director Deco said in February that Aston Villa wanted to extend his stay and the 28-year-old instead made an effort to arrive at the Camp Nou.

Despite last summer’s failure, the Premier League side haven’t forgotten about Rashford. On April 29th, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Emery is leading his side’s pursuit of the forward.

Price favours Aston Villa

Real Madrid are in the process of appointing José Mourinho as their new manager and the latest claims from the UK said the Portuguese wants to reunite with Marcus Rashford in Madrid.

Wednesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo has wasted no time to dismiss the possibility of the Manchester United man joining Real Madrid.

Sources close to the attacker informed the newspaper that he’s ‘100% focused’ on staying at the Camp Nou.

Rashford isn’t considering other options, including a return to Old Trafford.

Hansi Flick’s side have a €30m purchase clause and the Red Devils are refusing to lower it or sanctioning another loan move.

Mundo further add he has offers from other clubs, including Aston Villa, without providing any further details.

Sport on Wednesday state the Catalan club reached an agreement with Rashford over personal terms and need to agree a deal with Michael Carrick’s side to buy him.

For now, Barca don’t want to pay €30m and are exploring other options including a fresh loan deal.

Manchester United aren’t budging and are optimistic other clubs, including Aston Villa, are willing to meet their €30m demand. The figure quoted is unlikely to be an issue for Unai Emery’s side.

Our take: Barca’s gamble can benefit Aston Villa

Barcelona seem determined to retain Marcus Rashford but by meeting the only condition set by Manchester United.

The Camp Nou side are taking a gamble with their approach and that’s unlikely to pay off.

Their refusal to pay €30m could see them miss out on the attacker, allowing Aston Villa to then make advances.
