There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Aston Villa have stepped up in their pursuit for Beşiktaş forward Tammy Abraham.

The Premier League side have been linked with their former player over the past week as they look to add to their attack. Abraham had a season long loan spell with Villa in 2018-19.

Unai Emery will be especially keen to bring in a forward before the window closes after the departure of Donyell Malen.

Yesterday, the Dutchman signed for AS Roma on loan, with a conditional obligation to purchase. The 26-year-old only joined Aston Villa 12 months ago from Borussia Dortmund, and didn’t hang around long.

Milliyet report on the latest developments regarding Aston Villa’s interest in the Beşiktaş attacker. An offer has now been tabled by Aston Villa, following transfer negotiations between the two clubs.

The Birmingham club have also offered the centre forward personal terms and are prepared to give him a salary of £4m a season. Salaries are normally quoted after tax in the Turkish media and that’s likely to be the case here.

Negotiations will continue, but Evann Guessand won’t be part of a deal to land Abraham.

There had been reports the Ivorian could be used as part-payment for the 28-year-old.  However, his agent has gone on record to say his client will be remaining at Aston Villa, just six months after signing.

Abraham impressed for the Premier League club whilst on loan from Chelsea during the 2018/19 season. He scored 26 goals in 46 games with the Villans before returning to Stamford Bridge.

This season he’s scored 13 times in 26 appearances for The Black Eagles. Three of those goals have come over his past four league matches, so there’s no big worries about his immediate form.

Indeed, Abraham played on Thursday for Beşiktaş and scored in a 3-0 victory over Ankara Keçiörengücü.
