Aston Villa have made an inquiry about Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika after losing Boubacar Kamara to a serious injury.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri. He reports that Aston Villa are now in the mix for the midfielder.

The Villans are looking likely to do business this month to enhance Unai Emery’s squad. They’ve turned their season around and they remain in firm contention for a Champions League place. Indeed, a title challenge cannot be ruled out either.

They’ve already started shuffling their cards, with Donyell Malen allowed to leave for Roma this week. That has, potentially, opened up funds to be spent elsewhere.

A new midfielder may be high on the agenda. They lost Kamara this week, with Emery later confirming the 26-year-old is set to see doctors. The fear at this moment in time is that he’s set for an extended spell on the sidelines.

Should that be the case, the Frenchman will need to be replaced. He’s a key player in the middle of the park for Emery and his system.

That, according to Tavolieri, has seen them make an inquiry for Club Brugge’s Onyedika. He does, though, stated that the midfielder is more likely to join Galatasaray at this moment in time. That would suggest the Turkish side are more advanced than Aston Villa at this point.

Onyedika has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a while, though. The last report, back in September, had Everton, Leeds United and West Ham United as being keen. Now it’s Aston Villa showing an interest, albeit a small one for the time being.
