Weston McKennie is persona non grata at Juventus, and not for the first time. In the summer 2023 window he was sent to train away from the main group, told he didn’t have a future with the Turin club, and encouraged to find a new team.
He did not, insisting on staying and being proven right to do so after he then had his best Juventus spell. This summer everything has gone sour again, and it all relates to his demands making a move to Aston Villa collapse.
McKennie was going to be used in the Douglas Luiz transfer and would have been valued at around €25m. Calciomercato report Juventus ‘do not forgive’ him for his ‘attitude’ in negotiations with Aston Villa and seeing that deal slip away.
Since then there hasn’t exactly been a queue of clubs knocking the Juventus door down to get to him. Fiorentina are keen, though, but they don’t want to pay more than €5m.
Yes, €20m less than he was set to be valued at in a move to Aston Villa just weeks ago. If they don’t get any better offers it’s thought Juventus may accept.
