Aston Villa have joined the race to sign River Plate’s Lautaro Rivero, according to El Intransigente.

Over the past few weeks, the same outlet covered Tottenham Hotspur and Atlético Madrid interest in the centre-back.

On Tuesday, El Desmarque reported Real Madrid are also following the 22-year-old and Tottenham dream of signing him. They also stated River Plate could negotiate his sale for less than his €100m clause.

A fresh report from El Intransigente covers the Villans’ desire to secure his services. Their title says the Argentina international has spoken with his compatriot… Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martínez.

It’s claimed the Premier League side’s intention is to sign the South American ‘as soon as possible’, likely in the winter market.

The defender’s contract is until December 2028. The Argentine club’s desire is to not part ways with him in January and make him a key part of their new project.

According to the report, all parties are aware that there are offers River Plate can’t refuse.

El Intransigente states if Aston Villa offer over €20m, it’ll be difficult for River Plate to refuse. Unai Emery’s side are likely to face competition to acquire his signature.
