Aston Villa are one of the clubs chasing Flamengo star Pedro, according to reports today.
The information comes from Italy, where CalcioMercato.it share an exclusive story saying there’ll be an ‘English auction’ for the centre-forward’s signing this summer.
The story points out some clubs who had already been linked to Pedro before, such as Chelsea, Fulham and West Ham United, and now adds Aston Villa to that competition.
Pedro may still be playing in Brazil and turning 27 this summer, but that doesn’t mean he’d be a cheap player. Flamengo turned down €18m offers last year, and would now want a minimum of €30m, plus a percentage of profit from a future sale.
It’s said that besides Aston Villa and all those Premier League sides, Arab clubs are also interested in the striker.
Pedro had a brief adventure in Europe when playing for Fiorentina, and returned to Brazil to play for Flamengo in 2020. Since then, he’s had very good numbers, with 110 goals in 224 appearances.
He’s off to a great start this season, with eight goals in eight games, and it’d be no surprise to see more attempts to sign him this summer.
