Sevilla director of football Victor Orta has given his seal of approval to a deal for Aston Villa to sign Marcos Acuña in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Fichajes, who say the Argentine is ready to move to Villa Park in a deal worth around €15m.
They explain that a potential deal taking Acuña to Aston Villa in the next transfer window is ‘one of the most notable’ potential upcoming movements from the Spanish club.
The Argentine has been an important player for Sevilla since his arrival but at this point in his career he wants to look for a ‘change of scenery’ and is keen on joining Villa.
They wanted him in the summer transfer window but couldn’t get a deal over the line after he was injured late on and ended up staying in Spain.
Their interest hasn’t gone away, though, and they are ready to return for him and sign off on a deal worth €15m. Sevilla are also happy to do a deal and the potential €15m transaction ‘would bear the seal’ of sporting director Monchi.
That offer from Aston Villa is reportedly already on the table and Sevilla understand that Acuña may be facing his last days at the club.
Sevilla want to ensure they get as much as they can from the potential deal so they can then attack the market and find a replacement for a player whose departure would leave them ‘significantly weakened.’
