Aston Villa are the side ‘more interested’ than anyone else in AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham ahead of a possible move in the summer.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who cover the growing likelihood that Abraham will be returning to the Premier League at the end of this season.
They explain that Abraham ‘doesn’t score, doesn’t laugh and almost doesn’t play’ anymore for Roma after losing Jose Mourinho’s confidence this season.
His tally of seven goals this year is not an impressive one for a striker and, less than a year after being seen as the future of the club, he is now ‘melancholic’ and ‘often on the bench’.
That’s led to the rumours about his future multiplying in recent weeks and the player’s desire to return to the Premier League is ‘getting stronger and stronger’.
Roma are willing to sell for the right figure, €40-45m to be exact, and Aston Villa are very much in the race for his signature. Indeed, of his suitors, they are described as being ‘more interested’ than the rest.
That’s because they know the player well after he spent a season with them on loan from Chelsea, scoring 26 goals and registering four assists in a very successful season.
Much has changed at Aston Villa since then but it seems they remain fond of him and with it now ‘difficult’ for Abraham to remain in Rome, seem ready to try and bring him to Villa Park on a permanent basis.
