Youri Tielemans hasn’t featured for Aston Villa since their goalless draw against Everton on September 13th.

The Belgium international made his fourth start of the season against the Toffees but was withdrawn after the first half. He’s been sidelined with a knee injury since then, forcing the Aston Villa player to miss October’s international break.

Het Nieuwsblad have a report on the midfielder and their title states he’s ‘out longer than expected’.

It’s claimed the former Leicester City suffered a calf injury last month and has been on the sidelines since then.

According to the report, the 28-year-old’s setback is ‘even worse than initially thought’ and he’ll be away from the pitch for a few more weeks.

He could miss Aston Villa’s upcoming fixtures and possibly Belgium’s World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan in November.

La Dernière Heure also report Tielemans’ calf injury is expected to keep him out for a few more weeks.

He was initially in line to return after October’s international break. However, his injury is ‘a little more serious than expected’. Therefore, the player is at risk of missing Belgium’s key fixtures next month.

The report states Aston Villa’s relationship with the Belgian FA is complicated when it comes to injury management. This is mainly due to the Amadou Onana case.

Onana returned from an injury just last weekend. Despite that Belgium manager Rudi Garcia included him in the squad for the ongoing international break.
