Aston Villa have seen an initial bid for Rennes winger Jeremy Doku ‘rejected’ but a deal could be done quickly if they raise their offer.
That’s according to Ghana Soccer Net, who say that Doku is one of Aston Villa’s ‘key targets’ as they continue to bolster Unai Emery’s squad this summer.
They explain that after doing deals for Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres, Villa have now turned their attention to adding to their forward line.
Doku is one of the players they are looking at and they made an initial offer for him a few days ago worth around €25m.
Stade Rennais were not interested in a deal at that price and made it clear, with the figure not enough to persuade them to ‘proceed with talks’.
According to Ghana Soccer Net’s sources, Stade Rennais value the talented winger at a figure much higher than that and are ‘seeking a fee’ in the region of €40m.
They state that if an agreement is reached when a second offer is submitted to the French club, then Aston Villa are likely to complete a deal for the forward by the ‘end of this week’.
In other words, if the Villans offer €40m, or get closer to it and Stade Rennais find it acceptable, then a deal can be done quickly to get him to Villa Park.
