Aston Villa could sign Sevilla star Loïc Badé in the winter market, according to L’Equipe.

The centre-back impressed for the La Liga side regularly and also for France at the Paris Olympics last summer. This has seen him attract attention of other clubs and Aston Villa are one of them.

The Villans have ‘started discussions’ with Sevilla to find out the conditions needed to sign the 24-year-old in January.

Unai Emery has stated Aston Villa’s Pau Torres could be out for two months and this could have forced them to make an approach for the Frenchman.

Aston Villa haven’t yet made an offer for Badé and if they are keen, Monchi’s connection with Sevilla could be key for them to agree a deal. The Villans director had two successful spells at the Spanish club in the past.

Last September, Sevilla rewarded Badé with a new contract until 2029 and the report says it includes a €50m release clause.

Last week, AS stated Sevilla want a fee between €20-25m in January but could sell him to the highest bidder if there’s a bidding war. They also said Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested in Badé.
