Orlando Gill impressed at the World Cup with Paraguay and has caught the attention of Aston Villa and Ipswich Town.
The keeper was particularly impressive against Germany. His heroics in the penalty shootout helped them reach the Round of 16, when Gill was again the centre of attention against France.
This has helped the 26-year-old attract a lot of attention. He is at the peak of his powers and has spent several seasons with the San Lorenzo first-team.
A move to England could be possible, with Aston Villa and Ipswich Town in the picture.
Talk growing in Italy
Gill has become a key target for Serie A side Torino, who are in desperate need to sign a keeper.
Last week, Sky Italia made it clear that an initial offer from Il Toro landed on San Lorenzo’s table. But the South American side want to take advantage of his World Cup showings and have increased his value to over €6m.
Now, Torino’s task could be getting difficult.
La Stampa – via ToroNews, report that competition for Gill is growing. Lazio and Fiorentina have joined the race but the most ‘dangerous’ competition comes from England.
It is believed ‘Aston Villa have joined Ipswich Town’, with Feyenoord also monitoring his situation.
Deal not expensive, but risky
If Aston Villa and Ipswich really want Gill, a deal may not be too expensive for them. Even if San Lorenzo want a premium, they may not go over €10m in their demands.
This can make the keeper a low-key signing, with a good potential upside.
