Aston Villa have ‘expressed interest’ in Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy this summer, with the 30-year-old listening to offers.

BILD report that while Dortmund are insistent that the striker is in their plans, Guirassy is willing to listen to offers from clubs with a ‘convincing plan’.

Aston Villa express interest

According to BILD, Aston Villa have now expressed an interest in signing the striker this summer. The newspaper reports that Unai Emery’s side are closely monitoring Guirassy’s situation and considering making a formal move for him.

They could be ready to battle Fenerbahce for his signature. The Turkish side have been courting the striker for weeks, and he’s even been a prominent name in their presidential campaign. He’s considered one of the top targets at the club.

Publicly, Dortmund aren’t interested in a sale. Sporting directors Lars Ricken and Ole Book have repeatedly emphasised that Guirassy plays a key role in the plans for the upcoming season.

“We have no intention of letting him go. He has impressively demonstrated his value to Borussia Dortmund over the past two seasons,” Ricken is quoted as saying.

21 goals this season

That’s because the striker was one of Dortmund’s most important players last season. He managed 17 goals in 33 games in the Bundesliga, with 21 across all competitions.

Those numbers are attracting interest. Aston Villa have registered their interest alongside Fenerbahce. Other clubs are monitoring the situation. A move to Saudi Arabia has been mooted at but that does not appear likely at this point.

For now, Dortmund are remaining firm. But they’re aware of the growing interest and that’s causing concern at the club. Guirassy only has two years left on his current deal too, so this summer may be the ideal one in which to sell. Transfermarkt currently rate him at €32m.

Whether that’s a price Aston Villa can or want to pay, remains to be seen. But they’ve registered their interest and the transfer merry-go-round is starting to power up.
