Aston Villa have ‘formalised their offer’ for Villarreal defender Pau Torres, putting them one step ahead of Juventus in the race for the defender.
That’s according to Cadena SER, who say Villarreal have already received ‘two formal offers’ for the defender this summer.
They explain that Torres is again the ‘object of desire’ for several Premier League and Serie A clubs in this window after several years of being linked with a move away from the club.
The possibility of him leaving this year is ‘gaining more strength’ and one of the sides who are keen to sign him is Aston Villa.
They have ‘formalised their offer’ for the centre back, although the station makes no mention of the nature of that bid, just that it’s been formally made to Villarreal.
They have ‘fully entered the fight’ for the defender, who also has Juventus thinking about making a bid. The Italian giants are yet to do anything formal, though, putting Aston Villa one step ahead of them at this point.
The footballer’s environment have indicated that he will take the opportunity to decide his future during his month-long vacation, which started yesterday.
He’s unlikely to take that whole month to choose, though, as he wants to ‘close everything as soon as possible’. Thus, a decision should arrive in the coming days and weeks.
He has to choose between leaving, at this point for either Aston Villa or Juventus, or extending his stay with Villarreal by signing a new contract at the Spanish side.
