With no minutes played for Aston Villa this season, Morgan Sanson could actually be playing somewhere else by now.
That’s something reported by French outlet L’Equipe, who claims the player had the chance of moving to La Liga side Espanyol.
It’s claimed that the midfielder indeed wanted to ‘take advantage’ of the summer window to ‘revive’ his career.
He nearly had that too, as, in the ‘last days of the market’, a ‘suitable solution’ showed up for him, with him getting ‘very close’ to leaving the Premier League club.
Aston Villa and Espanyol apparently agreed to a loan deal, but despite signing the documents, it’s said the paperwork was delivered ’15 minutes late’.
That ended Sanson’s chances of leaving Steven Gerrard’s side, and he is now hoping to convince his manager at Villa Park to give him more playing time after featuring on the bench against Southampton.
The midfielder was signed by Aston Villa on a €15.8m deal from Marseille in January 2021.
He even had some playing time in his first months at the club, but despite the 20 appearances for them, he now struggles to get a single minute on the pitch.
