Aston Villa have their eyes on AS Monaco goalkeeper Yanis Benchaouch, according to Africa Foot.
The 19-year-old joined Monaco’s youth system in 2021 but is yet to make his debut for the first team. He was on the bench for their 4-1 defeat to Club Brugge in the Champions League last month.
Benchaouch is currently with Morocco at the ongoing U20 World Cup in Chile. The report states his fine displays, particularly in their victories over Spain and South Korea, haven’t gone unnoticed.
The Premier League club have taken notice of his impressive performances. It’s claimed Aston Villa have expressed interest in securing Benchaouch’s services in the winter market. Unai Emery’s side see the Moroccan as an investment for the future.
Aston Villa officials have been following him for a while. Africa Foot report Villa have contacted the youngster’s family to find out the possibility of carrying out an operation in January.
Although he’s yet to make his senior debut for his country, the Moroccan association’s plan is to build around him.
This indicates there’s a lot of expectation for Benchaouch to impress in the future.
