Turkish newspaper Takvim report Aston Villa have made an official offer for Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida, however, the Black Eagles have rejected it.

It’s reported Villa’s initial offer for the Croatia international was €5m, although there have been other reports in the past week that they’ve tabled an offer of €6m.

Takvim say the Premier League side are likely to return for Vida in this transfer window as they look to make an improved offer for the 30 year old.

Besiktas are looking to get €8m-10m from the sale of the central defender, but Takvim report it’s currently unclear if the English side would offer that much.

The Turkish side need to sell some of their players if they want to bring in new additions in January and Vida is said to be one of the those who could leave.

Dean Smith is looking to bring in defensive reinforcements this month and the Croatian is reportedly an option. He’s contracted to the Super Lig side until June 2022.
