There has been a lot of talk regarding Aston Villa potentially needing a left-back in the current transfer window, although their usage of Lucas Digne and Álex Moreno would suggest otherwise.
Either way, one player who has been linked with a move to Villa Park is Leandro Spinazzola, whose contract at AS Roma is expiring.
The latest to bring some information on the defender’s future are Il Messaggero in Italy, who claim that Aston Villa ‘like’ the player.
Now that’s not much to go on, but considering his contractual situation and the fact a previous report stated the defender was recently offered to Unai Emery’s side, it’s easy to see why he could be an enticing quick and very cheap transfer for the Premier League club.
Few will have forgotten his impressive performances for Italy during the 2020 Euros campaign before his achilles injury, and there could be some hope he could recapture that form if given the time.
Whether that’s something Aston Villa would be willing to give him when they already have two first-team left-backs in their squad remains to be seen, but the belief is they are giving it some thought.
