Aston Villa star Jordan Veretout has made it quite clear that he doesn’t want to play in the Championship next season.

The former Nantes midfielder is looking for a way out, and reports have linked him with a move back to Ligue 1.

Marseille are said to be interested, whilst La Liga side Real Betis are also lurking around.

According to a latest report from French newspaper L’Equipe, in their Wednesday edition, Veretout could sign for Marseille, after Aston Villa’s friendly match against Nantes on Saturday.

L’Equipe say Real Betis could improve their offer for Veretout, and that could be a final obstacle for Marseille.

Earlier, reports have suggested Marseille are interested in signing Veretout on loan, and it’s unlikely they’ll make a big investment on the player. There’s also been agent problems, and this move is growing more complicated than it really should be.

L’Equipe also have an update on the future of Carlos Sanchez. The Colombian international is also wanted by Marseille, but on a permanent deal.

The French newspaper say the clubs are ‘on the same wavelength’, which certainly sounds promising.

However, Marseille haven’t completed negotiating personal terms with the player, but are confident of getting a deal done.
