Juventus have lined up Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez as a replacement for Rodrigo Bentancur, should he leave for Aston Villa.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who say a meeting is paned with Nandez’s agent ‘in the next few hours’ as Juventus plan ahead.

Bentancur has been linked with a move to Aston Villa over the last few weeks, with reports stating that he is on Steven Gerrard’s wishlist.

He’s already brought Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne to Villa Park this month but is keen to continue spending the money made available to him to bolster his squad.

A central midfielder is seemingly part of his plans, and Bentancur appears to be the one at the top of the list.

CM say that Juventus think a deal is more than possible, and they are already planning ‘in case Bentancur leaves for Aston Villa’ by planning talks for Nandez.

They plan to understand the margins of a possible deal for the Cagliari midfielder, but it is all dependent on Bentancur moving to England.

At the moment, that possibility is ‘rather cold’ compared to what’s being said in England, but the ‘contacts are ongoing’ nonetheless.

The fact Juve are planning ahead suggest they think that a deal is possible, although there is work to be done to get to that point before the end of the January transfer window.
