Last week, Aston Villa director Monchi reportedly had a meeting with Juventus in Turin, where he asked about Weston McKennie and Matias Soulé, and offer Douglas Luiz to the Old Lady.
On Tuesday, Sky Italia said Aston Villa are working to carry out a swap deal involving Luiz and McKennie. Later that day, Calciomercato.it reported that Juve have held talks with the 26-year-old Brazilian’s agent.
Tutto Juve state the Serie A side have an ‘intriguing idea’ to carry out an exchange deal with Aston Villa.
It’s claimed the Turin club have been in ‘constant contact’ with Unai Emery’s side for the last 10 days, to work on a possible deal involving the 25-year-old American and Luiz.
Juve’s idea is to pay less than €10m in cash, and to achieve this, they have come up with a new formula.
It’s claimed Luiz and McKennie are valued at €55m and €25m respectively, and the Turin club intend to reduce the gap by including another player as part of the deal.
That won’t be Soulé, even though Monchi has requested information about him. The Turin club could offer Arthur Melo, and he would be an ‘interesting pawn’ for Emery.
In short, Juve’s idea is to offer McKennie, Arthur and €10m in exchange for Luiz. That, quite clearly, doesn’t sound like something Aston Villa should even entertain.
