On May 15th, L’Equipe reported Paris Saint-Germain are looking to sell Carlos Soler in the summer window and Aston Villa are ready to welcome him.
Later that day, Estadio Deportivo explained that Unai Emery had called the 27-year-old to join Aston Villa.
Foot Mercato backup Aston Villa’s interest in the midfielder, who has seen his game time restricted this season. To put it in context, Soler has clocked in 1,277 minutes from 28 games.
It’s claimed the player, who currently earns €6-8m net per year, isn’t keen on leaving Parc des Princes.
The Ligue 1 winners invested €18m to buy him from Valencia in 2022 and offered him a deal until 2027. The Paris club are aware that they won’t be able to recover the fee and are looking to let Soler leave on a loan deal in the next window.
Foot Mercato say several clubs have ‘already come forward’ to sign the Spaniard and Unai Emery’s side are the first to get mentioned. They state the Birmingham club have asked about him.
As well as Aston Villa, Villarreal and Real Sociedad are also interested in Soler. The three clubs are in line to sign him on a favourable deal, considering PSG are ready to sanction a loan move and pay part of his wages.
Soler needs to be convinced for the deal to take shape in the next window.
