Aston Villa and Bournemouth are lining up to battle it out for Girona’s Aleix Garcia, with interest in the defender soaring after this season.
That’s according to AS, who say Aston Villa and Bournemouth both have him ‘on the agenda’ thanks to Girona’s excellent season.
The newspaper explains that their impressive campaign, which has led to qualification for the Champions League next season, has helped to revalue most of the squad.
Garcia is one such player and at this moment in time he is the one who it is ‘most difficult to think’ will continue next year.
He’s aroused the interest of clubs around Europe, with Bayer Leverkusen taking the first step and already opening negotiations about signing him.
Those talks are only in the initial stages, but the feelings are good, with a deal valued at €15-20m and something they can easily afford.
The big problem is convincing the player, who knows he has interest from other clubs too, with Aston Villa, Bournemouth and even Barcelona all in the mix too.
He will be able to choose where he wants to go and the German champions, who are shining under Xabi Alonso, need to work on convincing him they would be the best option for him.
