Aston Villa are one of the clubs who are interested in UNAM Pumas winger César Huerta, according to reports from Mexico.
Newspaper Esto today shares a story where they highlight that the player is wanted by Girona, who could buy him after the Copa America.
The Catalan side are not along in the race, though, with a source close to the talks claimed there are a few more clubs willing to sign the 23-year-old.
“Lazio, Napoli, Aston Villa, Porto and Benfica are also interested in the Mexican at different levels. If this transaction takes place, it would not be announced until after the Copa America,” the source is quoted as saying.
In 37 appearances for the Mexican side this season, the winger has 11 goals and nine assists, and has only been seeing his price going up.
It remains to be seen whether clubs will make a move for him before the Copa America, possibly guaranteeing a cheaper price, or let him prove himself in the international tournament and risk finding some bigger competition for his signing.
With Aston Villa in the Champions League, they certainly have enough in their favour to fight all those interested sides.
