Earlier today, Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã reported Aston Villa have ended any plans to sign Atlético Madrid’s João Félix this summer.
That isn’t the case if Radio Marca is to be believed and they have a report, titled: ‘Aston Villa go for João Félix’.
It’s claimed Aston Villa ‘don’t lose sight’ of the 24-year-old’s situation at the La Liga side.
The forward spent the last 18 months on loan at Chelsea and Barcelona, after Diego Simeone left him out of his plans at Atlético.
Félix’s relationship with the La Liga side’s manager hasn’t improved at all. They have urged his agent, Jorge Mendes, to find a solution for his client. This is where both Benfica and the Villans have emerged as options.
It’s claimed the Premier League side could ‘bet decisively’ on the Portugal international, and could offer a ‘perfect and definitive’ way out of the Madrid club. A move to Villa Park will see him play under Unai Emery, who can help the player get the best out of him.
Aston Villa’s Moussa Diaby is close to being sold to Al-Ittihad for £50m. The report states this gives them the ‘financial muscle’ needed to buy the Atlético player.
It needs to be seen whether Aston Villa will take the decisive step and table a proposal to buy Félix, but in Portugal the slant was they simply wouldn’t agree to a permanent move.
