Aston Villa have slapped a €65m asking price on Amadou Onana as an early warning to Turkish side Galatasaray.
Takvim report that Galatasaray are on the lookout for a top-class midfielder and have added the Aston Villa midfielder to their shortlist.
Aston Villa want €65m
Aware of the interest in the 24-year-old, Aston Villa have moved quickly to establish their stance. They want at least €65m for the Belgian international if he is to leave this summer. That has seen Galatasaray’s board to ‘backtrack’.
The Turkish outlet report that Galatasaray’s interest comes from agent George Gardi. He is expected to play a more active role in their business this summer.
He has recommended Amadou Onana to the club. Their board immediately discussed the mater with head coach Okan Buruk. He was positive about the idea and, so, Galatasaray began to explore a transfer.
They contacted Aston Villa and were given a €65m asking price as a response. It’s now unclear whether Galatasaray will advance from this point because of that. With Onana still at the World Cup with Belgium, any deal would be delayed anyway.
Galatasaray manager keen
The Turkish side may have to upset their manager on this one, though. He is a big fan of the midfielder and would like to see him signed. But there is at least €20m difference in what they want to pay. ‘Significant developments’ would only happen if Onan was made available for Onana was made available for €40-45m.
That is unlikely to happen, though. Aston Villa paid €60m to sign Onana from Everton in 2024, so they would surely want that price back at a minimum. And with the midfielder tied to a deal until 2029, the Villans have no reason to reduce their demands either.
That means that this seems unlikely to happen, unless there is a significant effort from Galatasaray or a big reduction in Aston Villa’s demands.
