West Ham United are also interested in Marseille midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi this month and wil be competing with Aston Villa for his signature.
That’s according to L’Equipe journalist Mathieu Grégoire, who says the Hammers and Villa are ‘ready to draw big offers’ for the French midfielder.
Aston Villa have been linked with Guendouzi throughout this month, with it believed that Unai Emery is keen to reunite with a player he worked alongside at Arsenal.
Indeed, a report today stated that Guendouzi had received a ‘very nice offer’ from Aston Villa to join them this month and they were still pushing to try and get him to Villa Park before the end of the transfer window on Tuesday.
Whether they can do so remains to be seen, with Marseille reluctant to let one of their key players go this late and midway through the season.
It seems they may also now need to bat away interest from West Ham, who, according to Grégoire, are also in the mix.
“Guendouzi, we know that English clubs like Aston Villa or West Ham are ready to draw big offers, but today, we are not there yet,” Goal France report him saying to L’Equipe La Chaîne program.
