Last month, we covered claims from the Turkish press which stated Galatasaray’s Barış Alper Yılmaz is on Aston Villa’s transfer agenda. The Villans aren’t the only English club looking at the winger as Newcastle United are also in the picture for him.
That’s at least what ABC Gazetesi are reporting, and they state Aston Villa and Newcastle have closely followed the 24-year-old.
It’s claimed both Aston Villa and Newcastle had sent their scouts to Istanbul to take a closer look at Barış Alper Yılmaz, to ‘evaluate his potential’. He played the full 90 minutes while operating as a left winger.
Last season, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk mainly used the Turkey international on the right wing, and he managed seven goals and 12 assists.
ABC Gazetesi make no mention if Unai Emery’s side or the Magpies have plans to sign the 24-year-old this summer. His deal lasts until 2027.
On July 29th, Fotomaç stated the Turkish champions would need around €35m to sanction a move for Barış Alper Yılmaz.
