Newcastle United have joined Aston Villa in chasing Real Betis’ Luiz Henrique in the winter market.

On Tuesday, reports in the UK explained the Villans have identified the winger as a target and this was backed up in the Spanish press.

ABC de Sevilla on Wednesday state Henrique and his compatriot, Luiz Felipe, are attracting attention from the Premier League. For the former, Aston Villa and Newcastle are named as suitors.

It’s explained Unai Emery’s side and the Magies ‘have approached’ the 22-year-old to ask about the possibility of him leaving the La Liga side in January. He has a contract until 2028 which includes a €100m release clause.

Betis believe they will be able to earn more from the Brazilian’s sale in the future than they can this month.

Meanwhile, Estadio Deportivo got in touch with the Spanish club to find out if there is any chance for them to part ways with Henrique.

“It is too early [to talk about a transfer], we want him to continue growing with us,” a Betis source told them.

That doesn’t mean the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle would not be able to sign him in January.

It’s explained that only an offer ‘equal to or greater’ than €50m will make Betis ‘think about’ selling the player.

Time will tell whether Aston Villa or Newcastle are ready to invest €50m or more for Henrique.
