Aston Villa and Bournemouth are among the sides ‘pursuing’ Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic.
That’s according to Gazzetta di Modena. They report that Muharemovic is increasingly becoming the market man at the Italian club.
According to them, suitors are gathering for the centre-back as he continues to impress in Serie A. While the best in Italy’s top flight are keen, so is the Premier League and Aston Villa and Bournemouth are both in the mix.
The latter’s interest is reportedly being fuelled by Tiago Pinto, who keeps a watchful eye on Serie A following his time working there.
They have fond memories of the deal done for Dean Huijsen, who was bought for €20m in 2024 and then sold to Real Madrid in a €60m deal this summer. Muharemovic could be a similar deal, having come through Juventus’ Next Gen himself before moving to Sassuolo for €3m earlier this year.
Bournemouth clearly feel another such signing could be possible with Muharemovic, but they face competition. Aston Villa have also taken note of the defender and are watching him closely.
Both face competition from Inter Milan and Juventus. The latter of whom are due 50% from any sale and could use that to their advantage. The Italian duo are already moving to work out deals in January. They want to avoid a potential bidding war in the summer.
Whether that sparks Bournemouth or Aston Villa into action, remains to be seen. But they’re in the mix for Muharemovic, nonetheless.
