Philippe Coutinho is on his way out of Aston Villa, according to reports from the Brazilian media.
On R7, journalist Jorge Nicola claims the winger will be moving to Qatar, as an unnamed club agreed a deal for the transfer.
The story doesn’t say how much they’re paying Aston Villa for Coutinho, but it’s said that none of the money is going to Barcelona.
When buying the winger from the Catalan side for €20m last summer, the Villans had agreed that 50% of a potential future profit would be sent to the La Liga club.
The transfer, however, is now being done for less than €20m, which means the entire fee is going to Aston Villa.
Nicola recalls that Coutinho had recently been linked to clubs from Brazil and Saudi Arabia. The problem about a return to his home country had always been his salary.
It’s then said that the Qatari club will be paying the player something similar to what he currently earns at Aston Villa.
Coutinho leaves the Villa Park side with six goals and three assists in 43 appearances.
