On March 11th, we covered claims from Italy that Aston Villa are on pole to sign Atlético Madrid’s Mario Hermoso. Four days later, Tutto Juve explained that the Premier League side intend to enter into negotiations with the defender.
His deal with the La Liga side lasts until the end of this season, and Aston Villa and Juventus are keen on signing the 28-year-old on a free transfer in the summer.
Calciomercato provides the latest on interest from these clubs and Los Rojiblacnos’ efforts to try and convince the centre-back to sign an extension.
The Madrid club offered a five-year deal to the player but he hasn’t accepted it since he wishes to change clubs. Diego Simeone did everything to convince Hermoso, but there was ‘no way to change his mind’.
The website states whoever secures his services will end up securing a ‘great deal’ and it looks like Aston Villa have already taken necessary steps.
It’s claimed the defender’s agents are in ‘advanced negotiations’ with the Villans as his signing is the ‘specific request’ of Unai Emery.
There’s nothing closed yet with Aston Villa, while Juve and AC Milan are also interested in Hermoso. The negotiations with the Turin club have cooled in the last few weeks and this should please Emery’s side.
