Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi has been at the centre of attention for Bournemouth and Aston Villa in the past few days.
The Italian press has tried to drag multiple Premier League clubs into the race for the defender, who has a release clause worth €28m in his current deal.
That release clause expires on July 10th.
Corriere di Bologna reiterate this information and claim that while ‘half the PL’ has joined the race for the centre-back, it’s Aston Villa who are ‘above all’ in the driving seat for his signature.
Bournemouth have had a low offer rejected and Tottenham, Brentford and Wolves have enquired about the possibility of a move. Bologna remain firm in their stance that only a club that can trigger the €28m release clause will sign the Colombian.
At the same time, the centre-back’s future can be impacted by how things turn out for his defensive partner Sam Beukema. Napoli are trying to sign him and if they succeed, Bologna will try to hand Lucumi a new contract.
The next few days are likely to be key in this situation, and Bologna are understandably going to insist they’ll only accept the clause, at least until it’s expired.
