Newcastle United are believed to be ‘preparing an offer’ for Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jesper Lindström, having shown an interest in him.
That’s according to BILD, who say that both Newcastle and AC Milan have ‘expressed a concrete interest’ in the 23-year-old this summer.
According to their information both clubs are now ‘seriously’ thinking about moving for the Denmark international and ‘it can be assumed’ that both clubs are now preparing an offer for the player.
He was the subject of a recent bid from RB Leipzig, who offered €25m for the player but saw that rejected by Eintracht’s sports director Markus Krösche.
He, and Frankfurt, are ‘demanding’ between €30-40m if they are to sanction a transfer and it’s believed that it shouldn’t be a problem for Newcastle to pay that figure.
Lindström himself is more than open to a move with BILD quoting him as saying “I said that I want to play where it’s fun and I think it’s fun to play in the Champions League and the big tournaments.”
He’s been an ‘absolute top performer’ since arriving at Frankfurt from Copenhagen two years ago in a €6.5m deal, and there is hope at the German club that he can earn them a sizeable profit from any transfer.
Whether that’s to Newcastle remains to be seen but they like the player and are believed to be preparing a bid to sign him as a result.
