Swedish side Malmö FF have now publicly reacted to the recent rumours linking their manager Henrik Rydström to Brighton & Hove Albion.
It’s the English media that has been saying that the Seagulls have set eyes on the 48-year-old to replace Roberto De Zerbi at the club.
Today, Fotbollskanalen managed to hold an interview with Malmo chairman Anders Pålsson, who claimed he’s yet to be contacted by Brighton about that possibility.
“It’s not something I know about and I have not received any information about it. I have only noted it (in the media).”
Asked if Brighton made any type of contact, he again claimed that never happened.
“No, it hasn’t. No more than what has been written in the media.”
He also refused to make some more comments on the recent rumours, repeating that there’s nothing going on right now.
“I have read various reports of interest but there has been nothing concrete for us. It’s a completely hypothetical question. We have an agreement with Henrik and assume that he is our coach.
“It is quite natural because Henrik has done very well. Otherwise, I have no comments.”
Rydström had worked at Kalmar and Sirius before joining Malmo in December 2022. So far, he has a record of 39 wins, seven draws and eight losses in 54 games in charge of the club, having won the league in 2023 and the cup this year.
The Swedish manager is just one of the names who’ve been linked to Brighton recently, and the Seagulls will have to make a decision soon.
